Udu
2019
Udu explores the sonic potentiality of the clay body, inspired by traditional ceramic percussion instruments. The sound recording’s ritualistic quality gives the impression of a rhythmic event with an ambiguous spatio-temporal setting.
The audience is left to explore whether
the sound is created by the sculpture itself, prompting them to discover the resonant aspects of a clay body.
